GHS Auto Tech gets special delivery

High schoolers often work toward getting their first car to drive. Students in auto tech classes at Gilmer High School (GHS) have been working toward getting a car for different purpose — to use as an in-class learning tool.

Dogs’ day out

Pets and owners take to North Main Street during the 2022 St. Petrick’s Day Parade held Saturday, April 30. The festive pet-themed event, organized by Friends of Gilmer Animal Shelter (FOGAS), was originally planned for March 12, but had to be rescheduled due to bad weather that weekend.

A body found earlier this year on Springer Mountain in Fannin County has been identified as that of Stephen Lucas Ryan, 40, of Pennsylvania. Fannin County Coroner Becky Callihan said the identification was made by two specialists in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Missing Persons unit.
Two of the bridges are on Rock Creek Road, another is on Boardtown at or near the intersection of Whitepath Road (above). The final one is on Old Hwy. 5 near the address 4058 Old Highway 5 south (below).

County bridges get more attention

Bridges are receiving more attention from Gilmer County government. “We’ve been getting inspections on those bridges all along, every other year, said Gilmer County Chair Charlie Paris.

‘9 to 5’ a GHS musical not to miss

What a way to make a living, and what a musical production to cap off the first full season of theater at Gilmer High School (GHS) in quite a while. That would be “9 to 5: The Musical,” which closes out GHS Theater’s 2021-22 season this weekend, May 6-8.
