The Gilmer County Board of Tax Assessors approved real and personal property value notices for 2022 when meeting last Friday.

Plenty of locally-grown plants, and advice on how to make them prosper, can be found at an upcoming plant sale presented by the Garden Club of Ellijay.
Local Garden Club members will hold the plant sale Saturday, May 21, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at the Lions Club Fairgrounds, 1729 South Main Street.

A dragstrip race car once well-known in and beyond Ellijay has found its way back home.
Strip Teaser II, a customized 1965 Ford Falcon formerly owned and raced by Ellijay businessman Bob Thomas, was recently purchased by Bob’s son, James Thomas.

Local man drowns in Allatoona Lake

A man who drowned in Allatoona Lake was identified as a Talking Rock resident.
Charles Matthews, 37, was swimming in the lake when a witness on the shore saw him in distress, according to a Georgia Department of Natural Resources incident report.
