Traffic stop nets methamphetamine seizure

Gilmer County deputies seized more than 10 ounces of methamphetamine from a vehicle during a traffic stop. The seizure came as part of a two-year investigation involving the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office along with Fannin County, Union County and Cherokee County, N.C.

$1.5 million grant for housing project

State funds have been granted which will prove vital in an upcoming building project in Gilmer County. Gov. Brian Kemp announced a $1.5 million grant from the OneGeorgia Authority for the Gilmer County Joint Development Authority, Ellijay, East Ellijay and Gilmer County.

Max Frady has been working NASCAR Cup Series races as a tow truck operator for more than 20 years. However, the recent race in Mexico City, Mexico, proved to be one of the most exciting in his career.

Veterans Memorial restoration planned

Inmate death investigation

Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office, along with the GBI, are invesigating an inmate death which occurred at the courthouse. “We are limited in what we are allowed to say about an ongoing investigation and specifics of the case,” said Captain Frank Copeland.
