Gilmer High softball has busy week of games

The penultimate week of the regular season kept the Gilmer High Lady Cats on the softball diamond. GHS played two region games and three nonregion contests over a five-day span. The Cats hosted region foe Northwest Whitfield Tuesday before an away game against the Pickens Dragonettes.

GHS heads to CCMS for annual 5K

Eight high school cross-country teams gathered at Clear Creek Middle School last week. The annual North Georgia Championships took place Tuesday, and the Gilmer High School Bobcats and Lady Cats were in attendance.

GHS Lady Cats defeat Pickens for 3rd time

Gilmer High’s volleyball slate included a pair of weekday matches before Saturday’s tournament. GHS made the short trip south to Pickens last Tuesday, and the Cats defeated the host Dragonettes for a 2-0 region victory. Gilmer also met Sonoraville and the Phoenix won in three sets, 2-1.

Cats spoil GC’s homecoming

It may not have been pretty, but it was a victory. Not many people around the Gilmer High School football program are concerned with style points, and the six points the Bobcats put on the scoreboard against the Gordon Central Warriors last Friday were enough.

GHS Lady Cats claw Pickens

The Gilmer High Lady Cats secured two more region softball wins last week. GHS was on the road Tuesday, and handled the Southeast Whitfield Raiders with ease, 15-3. The Cats were at home the next day against the Pickens Dragonettes.

The Mountain Football League began its rec games last Saturday and one Gilmer team came away with a victory. The 9-under Bobcats blanked the Chestatee War Eagles, 28-0, while the next two age groups fell just shy.

Gilmer High junior Beth Burnette passes to a teammate, and the Lady Cats began region matches at Tuesday’s press deadline. Last Tuesday, GHS was on the road and lost to Providence Christian Academy in straight sets, 25-16 and 25-17.
