Mr. Marvin Smith, 78, of Talking Rock, died Friday, July, 23 2021, at his residence with family by his side.
He was born June 11, 1943, in Pickens County, to the late Howard Smith and Clara Belle Keener. He was a timber cutter, logging for many, many years. He also loved horseback riding with his family and was also of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by brother, Edward Smith; and sister, Estelle Teems.
He is survived by wife, Marselle Smith; son, Eric Smith, of Talking Rock; daughters, Jennifer Smith and Sherry Smith, both of Talking Rock; brother, C.L. Smith, of Talking Rock; sisters, Floy Henderson, of Jasper, Wilmalee Chastain, of Ellijay; sister-in-law, and special friend, Joan Jones, Audrey Fountain; and grandson, Brent Payne.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2021, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Henderson and the Rev. Glen Arnold officiating.
Interment was in the Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ed Teems, Dennis Ponders, Donnie Fountain, Jamie Priest, Clinton Jones and Jimbob Smith.
Honorary pallbearer was Brent Payne.
Donations can be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses, in memory of Mr. Marvin Smith.
Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
