Body

Mr. David Elliott was born Sept. 28, 1946, in Ellijay. He was called home Saturday, July 18, 2021, after a sudden illness.

He was one of the most kind and generous men to walk the face of this Earth. His trademark was his laid-back image.

He was also known for his sly laugh and his many flannel shirts. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and SEC football and feeding his insatiable sweet tooth, but his favorite activity was swinging on the front porch, while watching his fur babies, Pete and Dottie, frolic in the flowers.

He is survived by loving wife of 36 years, Gennie L. Elliott; caring daughter, Kristin Gaddis (Rusty Ledford), of Blue Ridge; mother, Louise Wood, of Copperhill, Tenn.; stepchildren, Shannon Gray (Tina), of Blue Ridge, Sharee Gray Gibson (Eric), of Davenport, Fla., Sherry Gray Browning, of Dahlonega, Michael Gray, of Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Wyatt Ledford and Olivia Ledford, of Ellijay, Jacob Gray, Alicia Gibson and Brandon Gibson, all of Blue Ridge.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021, in the chapel at Akins Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Postell of Calvary Chapel Blue Ridge officiating.

Interment followed at New Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Allen Jones, Jody Wilson, Brandon Gibson, Jacob Gray, Larry Chastain and Wyatt Ledford.

Music was by Tina Gray, Paula Culver and Judy Tipton.
