Lynn Vence Ozment

Mr. Lynn Vence Ozment, 72, of Ellijay, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at his Rome residence. He was born in Birmingham, Ala., June 1, 1949, son of the late Buford Vence Ozment and the late Nannie Lee (Nan) Kelly Ozment. He was a graduate of the University of North Georgia.

Harry Dean McClure

Mr. Harry Dean McClure, 71, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Ellijay, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at St. Thomas-Rutherford Hospital. He was born in Woodstock Jan. 22, 1950, to the late Paul McClure and Ruth Wright McClure. He loved his family, and was loved by all who met him.

Johnson ‘Grady’ Hopkins Jr.

Mr. Johnson “Grady’’ Hopkins Jr., 76, of Ellijay died Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, at his residence. He was born July 14, 1945, in Cumming  to the late Johnson ‘’Grady’’ Hopkins Sr. and Avery Sweatman Hopkins. He worked in the poultry business as a self-employed poultry farmer. He was a member of Mt.

Samuel Brown Adams

Mr. Samuel Brown Adams, 40, of Gainesville, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021. He was born May 31, 1981, in Marietta to Weylan Samuel Adams Jr. and Sue Patterson Wiley. He was of the Baptist faith and worked as an electrician for Cleveland Electric in Atlanta.

Mrs. Dee Weaver

Mrs. Dee Weaver, 89, of Ellijay, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, at her residence. She was born in Gilmer County April 9, 1932, to the late Robert Stover and Rosa Cochran Stover. She was a homemaker and a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by husband, Arvil Weaver.

Joseph Wayne Westmoreland

Mr. Joseph Wayne Westmoreland, 81, of Helen and Ellijay, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022. He was born May 29, 1940, in White County, to the late Birch and Cecilia Westmoreland. He worked as an engineer for the Georgia Department of Transportation. He is preceded in death by numerous siblings.

Leeman Henry

Mr. Leeman Henry, 72, of Blue Ridge, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Fannin County March 12, 1949, to the late Bill McCunkey and Dessie Mae Warren. He is preceded in death by great-grandchild, Master Jaxson Thomas Henry.

Mrs. Glenda J. Burnett

Mrs. Glenda J. Burnett, 74, of Ellijay, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, at her residence under the care of Heartlite Hospice. She was born in Terre Haute, Ind., Feb. 9, 1947. She later resided in Phoenix, Ariz. Then, Durant, Fla., where she retired from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Walter Jay Garland

Mr. Walter Jay Garland, 72, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, at his residence. He was born in Dalton March 3, 1949, to the late Joe Garland and Helen Duckett Garland. He was a high school graduate, class of 1968, and was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Marvin William Rushing

Mr.  Marvin Rushing, 94, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021. He was a resident of Centre, Ala., and a former resident of Ellijay and Baton Rouge, La. He retired from Honeywell. He was born Oct. 14, 1927, to Walter and Ida Belle Rushing in White Castle, La.
