Ms. Marie Driskill Eubanks Hamrick, 89, of Ellijay, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 31, 2021, at her residence. She was born June 24, 1932, in Gadsden, Ala., to the late Ralph R. Driskill and Evie Satterfield Driskill.

Mr. Timothy Blaine McKinney, 60, of Ellijay, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2022. He was born Dec. 20, 1961, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Doyle and Beverly McKinney. He is preceded in death by sister, Lynn (Phill) Riggs.

Otis ‘Dent’ Defoor

Mr. Otis “Dent” Defoor, 74, of Ellijay, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022. He was born in Gilmer County Feb. 28, 1947, to the late Clifford Otis Defoor and Emily Marie Joyce Defoor. He is preceded in death by sisters, Colleen Defoor and Lovell Bramlett; and brother, Autry Defoor.

Mrs. Bonnie Celeste Austin

Mrs. Bonnie Celeste Austin, 76, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022. She was born June 18, 1945, in Anderson, Ind., to the late August Joseph Bruyere and Virginia Faith Greeley. She attended First Baptist Church of Ellijay, and was a retired bookkeeper.

Joseph Wayne Westmoreland

Mr. Joseph Wayne Westmoreland, 81, of Helen and Ellijay, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022. He was born May 29, 1940, in White County, to the late Birch and Cecilia Westmoreland. He worked as an engineer for the Georgia Department of Transportation. He is preceded in death by numerous siblings.

Mrs. Noelle Brock Coates

Mrs. Noelle (Brock) Coates, 37, of Ellijay, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022. She was born Dec. 25, 1984, to  Lee Roy Brock and Sandra Lee Chumley and was a member of His Hands church in Woodstock. She is preceded in death by mother, Sandra Lee Chumley; and baby brother, Christopher Bryant.

Mrs. Edith ‘Carol’ Jackson Spilman

Mrs. Edith “Carol” (Jackson) Spilman, 65, of Ellijay, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2021. She was born Dec. 1, 1956, in Blakley, to the late Willie Jim and Shelby Jean (Johns) Jackson. She is survived by companion of over 19 years Joseph S.

Mrs. Frances Benson Wingo

Mrs. Frances Benson Wingo died Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, at the age of 91. She is preceded in death by parents, John Washington Benson and Audra Maddox Benson; and siblings, Major Nolan Benson, Clyde Benson, Raymond Benson, Gwen Benson Honey and Dr. Howell Benson; and husband of many years, Carl Wingo.
