Marvin William Rushing

Mr.  Marvin Rushing, 94, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021.

He was a resident of Centre, Ala., and a former resident of Ellijay and Baton Rouge, La. He retired from Honeywell.

He was born Oct. 14, 1927, to Walter and Ida Belle Rushing in White Castle, La. He was a member of Ellijay First Baptist Church and served in the Army attached to the Air Force in the Korean War where he received two service stars. He was a real estate broker and taught real estate law. He loved his God and his church, gardening, hunting, LSU and all sports.

He retired to Ellijay and recently moved to Centre, Ala., to be near his daughter.

He is preceded in death by parents; sisters, Wilma Aucoin, Mildred Cancienne, Essie Barnhart, Carolyn Nosser, Jeanne Richardson; and brothers Walter Jr., Jimmy, Stanley and the Rev. Carl Rushing.

He is survived by wife of 67 years, Norma Jane Orr Rushing; daughter, Pamela (Sam) Corvin; son W. Mark Rushing; sister, Dorothy Cook; brother, Gerald Rushing; grandchildren, Robin Johnson, Terri Hill, Lynn Corvin and David Corvin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, La., with his great-nephew, Richard Goudeau officiating.

Burial was in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
