“Project Prom” is now taking donations of formal attire, to ensure every Gilmer High student can look and feel their best at the dance.
It’s a service project by the Kiwanis Club, whose mission is to make a difference in childrens’ lives by creating opportunities.

In an effort to educate families on dangers presented online, the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a discussion on Safer Internet Day.
GCSO is inviting parents to their presentation on Tuesday, Feb. 11, covering the dangers of social media, child exploitation and safer internet practices.

County holds public hearing on HB 581

Gilmer County Chair Charlie Paris began the county’s first public hearing on HB 581 with an explanation of the bill.

City officials are working on a solution for a “dangerous” intersection in Ellijay.
At last week’s city council meeting, Police Chief Edward Lacey discussed a complaint he received from a resident about the intersection at Seminary Circle and Corbin Hill Road.
