Three plead guilty in death of woman

Three defendants pled guilty in a case involving the death of a Pickens County woman. Mallory Warden, a 19-year-old, died after being shot.

Animal shelter faces ‘over-pup-ulation’

‘United We Stand’ theme of Fourth in Ellijay

Food, fun, music, a parade and fireworks will once again be on tap for Ellijay’s annual Fourth of July celebration this Friday. Festivities get underway at 2 p.m. in the parking lot of First Baptist Church, and downtown merchants will also have their doormats out in hopes of a bustling business day.

Traffic stop nets methamphetamine seizure

Gilmer County deputies seized more than 10 ounces of methamphetamine from a vehicle during a traffic stop. The seizure came as part of a two-year investigation involving the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office along with Fannin County, Union County and Cherokee County, N.C.

$1.5 million grant for housing project

State funds have been granted which will prove vital in an upcoming building project in Gilmer County. Gov. Brian Kemp announced a $1.5 million grant from the OneGeorgia Authority for the Gilmer County Joint Development Authority, Ellijay, East Ellijay and Gilmer County.

Max Frady has been working NASCAR Cup Series races as a tow truck operator for more than 20 years. However, the recent race in Mexico City, Mexico, proved to be one of the most exciting in his career.

Veterans Memorial restoration planned
