Light was out again the following morning
A traffic light went dark at the Highway 515 and First Avenue intersection during morning commute hours.
The traffic signal went out at some point before 6:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8.
The intersection is one of Gilmer’s busier road connections.
At 6:45 a.m., the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) sent out an alert calling for drivers to treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
“Full stop, take turns, look twice, then go,” its bulletin read.
The bulletin advised drivers to practice “common sense” and pick a different route if at all possible.
At 9:45 a.m., workmen from the Georgia Department of Transportation were on the scene to investigate and repair the signal issues.
About a half hour later, the light was working and traffic flow returned to normal.
However, the light was out again Tuesday morning, Sept. 9.
