Gilmer County commissioners have settled on additional office space for the county.
Following a nine minute executive session June 10, the board voted unanimously to purchase the building, parking lot and an additional lot behind at 36 Mulberry Street in East Ellijay.

Gilmer Fire and Rescue received almost $4,000 worth of wildfire fighting equipment from a grant supplied by the Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) and U.S. Forest Service. Board OKs $6.1 million water authority budget

Ellijay-Gilmer County Water and Sewerage Authority board members have approved an operating budget of $6.1 million for the authority’s 2024-25 fiscal year, which starts July 1. The 2024-25 budget is up nearly $660,000 from the current year’s budget of just over $5.4 million.

Tentative terms on TSPLOST

Pending approval by the boards of Ellijay and East Ellijay, an agreement has been reached on the split for a proposed TSPLOST.
Gilmer County commissioners voted at a special called meeting in May to add a TSPLOST to the ballot this November.

Early voting set for BOC Post 1 runoff

Early voting for the Gilmer Board of Commissioners (BOC) Post 1 runoff will begin Monday, June 10. The five-day early voting period will run through Friday, June 14. There will be no weekend voting hours.
In-person voting can be done from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Water authority to sell more to Pickens with new connection

Ellijay-Gilmer County Water and Sewerage Authority (EGCWSA) board members renewed an existing agreement to sell water to Pickens County, while also approving a new, second interconnection between the two counties’ water systems, when meeting last week.

Seamless Summer meal program returns

The Gilmer County School System will provide meals at no cost as the Seamless Summer feeding program has returned.
Breakfast and lunch are available Monday through Thursday at six locations throughout the county and are open to those who are 18 years old and younger.
