New Craddock Center director hopes to be ‘constant’ for local nonprofit

The Craddock Center’s new executive director, Kirk Cameron, did not expect he would soon be leading the Cherry Log nonprofit after becoming involved as a board member last year.

Sheriff’s office marks 25th anniversary of deputy’s death

Last Saturday morning, Gilmer Sheriff’s officers marked the 25th anniversary of the death of Deputy Brett Dickey, killed in the line of duty Feb. 13, 1996.

Jameson’s Irish acoustic show to kick off restarted Gilmer Arts concerts

Nashville bandleader Johnny Jameson enjoys making the merry, and sometimes mournful, music of the traditional Irish-Celtic genre.  The singer and guitarist, who performed in Ellijay with his band The Empty Pints last March, is excited about returning here for a solo show at the George Link Jr.

Gilmer schools see enrollment decline

The Gilmer County School System has seen its enrollment decline over the past 16 months. The district’s full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment in October of the 2019-2020 school year was 4,189, according to the Georgia Department of Education.
