Jameson’s Irish acoustic show to kick off restarted Gilmer Arts concerts

Nashville bandleader Johnny Jameson enjoys making the merry, and sometimes mournful, music of the traditional Irish-Celtic genre.  The singer and guitarist, who performed in Ellijay with his band The Empty Pints last March, is excited about returning here for a solo show at the George Link Jr.

Gilmer schools see enrollment decline

The Gilmer County School System has seen its enrollment decline over the past 16 months. The district’s full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment in October of the 2019-2020 school year was 4,189, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

For a guy who loved to sing the blues, there was no shortage of positivity from Mike Bean, family and friends are remembering about the Ellijay singer-guitarist who passed away Feb. 5 at age 70.
