Ellijay council OKs accepting Shrine Club Drive

The Ellijay City Council closed out 2021 by adopting a resolution that’s been tabled at a number of previous meetings.

Bethlehem Peace Light finds way to Ellijay again

A flame that has been burning for hundreds of years made its way to Ellijay once again during last Saturday’s Bethlehem Peace Light ceremony. It’s a harbinger of Christmas that is becoming a local tradition.
Above is a preview of Gilmer High’s new video scoreboard that will be installed at Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium. The 21’x36.75’ dimensions of the board are fully programmable and can be used entirely for video or for advertisements and game information as seen above. The bottom 4’x32’ portion of the scoreboard can be used independently without video integration operated by a regular scoreboard controller.

BoE approves video scoreboard

A new video scoreboard will be installed at Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium after passing by a 3-2 vote. The Gilmer County Board of Education received details about the project last Monday, Dec. 13, from  director of human resources and facilities Dana Berry.

Shop With a Hero ‘bigger and better’ this year

Seventy third-fifth grade students from Gilmer County were able to do Christmas shopping alongside public safety professionals as this year’s Shop With a Hero program commenced Saturday, Dec. 11.

County starts process to raise hotel/motel tax

Gilmer County will ask its state delegation to begin the process of raising the hotel/motel/lodging tax for the county. A unanimous vote at a special called meeting Dec. 21, asked for local legislation to raise the hotel/motel/lodging tax from 5 percent to 8 percent.

Second DDA town hall for downtown parking set
