In her 15 years as principal of the North Georgia Christian Academy (NGCA), Mary Pierce has seen the school go from 90 students to 365.  Nearly half of the school’s growth has taken place since 2019.

Burglar steals lottery tickets from local store

Somewhere out there, a burglar may be hoping to get very lucky. That’s why he robbed the Parks Place Convenience Store at 3178 Old Highway South and made off with only the store’s lottery tickets, according to an investigation report from the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO).

“Gumdrop” is a funny name for a criminal, but that’s who the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) arrested on Halloween this year. “It means a lot to me to be able to do stuff like this for the community,” GCSO Deputy Stacey Weaver said.

One man hopes to bring Salvation Army charity to Gilmer County, and he’s looking for your help. Retired Salvation Army Major Ken Chapman has spent the last 16 years working for the Salvation Army as an ordained minister.
