Watchful citizens dodge scams

Some Gilmer citizens recently saved themselves and others from theft by staying vigilant. In one case, the alleged criminal had a trustworthy reference, a local phone number and a valid account order. But it wasn’t enough to trick Josh Gonzalez of Appalachian Supply.

Even on damp, cold days, the Ellijay Lions Club is motivated by members’ commitment to helping others.  “It’s for the families,” Lion Tamer Jim Harding said. “It’s for the children of Gilmer County.

Wreaths Across America ceremony Saturday

The first-ever Wreaths Across America ceremony in Ellijay will take place Saturday, Dec. 13, at noon in the City Cemetery. The program honors deceased veterans by the placing wreaths on their gravesites around the country.
