The theft could be the most valuable item in the store
Somewhere out there, a burglar may be hoping to get very lucky.
That’s why he robbed the Parks Place Convenience Store at 3178 Old Highway South and made off with only the store’s lottery tickets, according to an investigation report from the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO).
The GCSO discovered the crime when store employee Ethel Findley called them Sunday morning, Dec. 7. She noticed the store’s door had been pried open, and called 911.
Deputies Alexis Stanley and James Knight responded, checking the store.
After searching the store, its manager Debra Belcher discovered nothing was missing except the lottery tickets.
Video footage from the store’s cameras showed a dark gray car pulling into the store’s parking lot about eight minutes before midnight Saturday, Dec. 6.
A man dressed in black got out of the car and attempted to pry the door open. When a car drove by, he hid, then continued breaking in.
After making entry, he grabbed the lottery tickets and fled the scene.
The only part of the man visible was around his eyes, any identifying details remain unknown.
As of writing, the GCSO hasn’t made an arrest.
