Lois Jean Davis

Mrs. Lois Jean Davis, 83, of Ellijay, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022. She was born Nov. 14, 1939, the eldest child of the late Lee and Mea Mealer Reece. She was a graduate of Gilmer High School, class of 1956, and worked at First Baptist Church as a child care worker for many years.

Roy Vernon Sanford

Mr. Roy Vernon Sanford, 89, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022. He was born Nov. 22, 1932, in Ellijay, one of 11 siblings to Joseph Emory Sanford and Mary Quarles Sanford. He served in the Navy and took a job in Boston, Mass., as an X-ray technician.

Richard O. Hightower

Mr. Richard O. Hightower, of Alto, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022. He was born Jan. 23, 1948, to Willie D. and Annie Sue Hightower. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec.

John Vernon ‘Pete’ Banks

Mr. John Vernon “Pete” Banks, 85, of Chatsworth, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022. He was born Oct. 30, 1937, in Ellijay, to the late Clinton Garfield Banks and Lillie Artie Dotson Banks. He worked as a mechanic for Coronet Carpets for over 40 years and was an avid gardener who loved the outdoors.

Anna Ruth Jones

Mrs. Anna Ruth Jones, 93, of East Ellijay, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at Wildwood Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born Nov. 18, 1928, in Pickens County, to the late Joseph Barney Payne and Mattie Gaddis Payne. She is preceded in death by husband, Warren Patterson Jones.

Emory Reid Jones

Mr. Emory Reid Jones, 74, of Ellijay, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2022. He was born March 3, 1948, in Ellijay, to the late Floyd William and Burnice Ruth (Lowe) Jones.  He was a Gilmer High School graduate, class of 1966, and was a member of Salem Baptist Church for over 60 years.

Mrs. Velvet Lindel Davis, 60, of Ellijay, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022. She was born May 6, 1962, in Gilmer County, to the late William Davis and Adelle Pittman Davis. She loved her family very much.
