Theresa Ann Cantrell Sullivan

Mrs. Theresa Ann Cantrell Sullivan, 76, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, at her residence. She was born Jan. 30, 1946, in Albany, to the late J.D. Cantrell and Josephine Hornsby Cantrell. She worked for Marshall Insurance and after retiring,  became a librarian for the Gilmer County Library.

Joyce Fouts Evans

Mrs. Joyce Fouts Evans, 92, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, at her residence. She was born Oct. 5, 1929, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to the late Almarine and Allie Norton Fouts. She was a graduate of Ellijay High School, class of 1947.

Charlene Garland Byrd

Mrs. Charlene Garland Byrd, of Gilmer County, died  Friday, Aug. 5, after a lengthy illness with heart disease.  She was 89. She loved her Lord, her family and her native north Georgia hills. She was born in the Whitestone community of south Gilmer County, and graduated from Gilmer High School.

Jean Horton Oliver

Mrs. Jean Horton Oliver, 82, of Jefferson, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022. She was born Aug. 3, 1939, in Shoal Creek, N.C..  She was a graduate of Gilmer County High School and was retired from Gwinnett Hospital System at Joan Glancy as a central supply technician over 38 years.

Larry E. Mulkey

Mr. Larry E. Mulkey, 74, went home to be with the Lord Aug. 5, 2022. Born Feb. 13, 1948, in Ellijay, to the late Waldo D. and Jewel V. (Mullinax) Mulkey He was a lifelong resident of the Barberton / Akron area.  A veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the U.S. Army, he retired from P.P.G. Co.

Gloria Jean Mata

Mrs. Gloria Jean Mata, 79, of Ellijay, formerly of San Diego, Calif., died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022, at Parkside Rehabilitation in Ellijay. She was born May 15, 1943, in Long Beach, Calif., the daughter of the late John Rosales and Jessi Rosales.

Bobby C. Milam

The Honorable Bobby C. Milam died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022, from natural causes. He was predeceased by wife Jackie Milam and Riley Milam.

Carolyn Jean Harbin

Mrs. Carolyn Jean Harbin, 88, of Ellijay, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, at her residence. Mrs. Harbin was born April 6, 1934, in Gastonia, N. C., the daughter of the late Leonard Fain and Anna Mae Gaddis.

Elzie Janelle Abercrombie

Mrs. Elzie Janelle Abercrombie (Davis), 89, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022. She was born Nov. 17, 1932, to her late parents Bernice (Quarles) and Harley Davis. She accompanied her husband Roy when he worked at the sawmill, often taking their toddler daughter, Helen, along with them.

Betty Belle Birdsong

Mrs. Betty Belle Birdsong died peacefully at her home in Sandy Springs, Thursday, July 14, 2022. She was 89. She is survived by husband, William Birdsong Sr. and sons, William Jr. of Smyrna, and Jeff of Chapel Hill, N.C. She was born April 1, 1933, to Lyman and Beulah Parsons, of Jasper.
