GBI promotes Hamby to Region 1 Special Agent in Charge

A longtime agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Dustin Hamby, has been promoted to special agent in charge of the Region 1 Investigation Office in Calhoun, a GBI release has announced. Region 1 is composed of 12 counties in northwest Georgia.

Gilmer Community Food Pantry (GCFP) Director Adam Pilkinton knows what it’s like to celebrate Thanksgiving in poverty. He grew up in Southwest Atlanta, where his family often visited Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless, the local food pantry. “I was thankful for any sort of normalcy,” he said.

Homeward Bound Pet Rescue’s (HBPR) “Project Thor” shares a name with a proposed Air Force kinetic orbital bombardment weapon system, a proposed Army anti-drone energy weapon, a U.S. law enforcement plan to stop gun trafficking to Mexico and more. But it doesn’t resemble any of these programs.

Tabor House ‘Christmas & Crafts’ open house is Dec. 6

A beautiful, Victorian home will be decorated in turn-of-the-century style and volunteers will be in period dress and provide live music. Handwoven baskets will be displayed and available for purchase at the Tabor House Museum Open House on Dec. 6. There will also be cornhusk dolls on display.

Gilmer County commissioners are looking to keep two more things out of the county — data centers and bioenergy facilities. Data centers are large facilities being built across the nation to house servers to manage, store and process data. There has been a large uptick in construction.
