Packaged distilled spirits will soon be sold by licensed businesses inside the Ellijay city limits following passage of a special election item last Tuesday.

Billy Edmond shared his love of baseball with his two oldest sons, Charlie and Eric. In their first game on Okinawa, where the family was settling into life at an Air Force duty station, Charlie hit a home run on the first pitch of the game. Eric socked a homer on the second pitch.

Why there’s a giant squid by the side of the road

There’s a new roadside attraction in Gilmer County you won’t find anywhere else. A 12-foot statue of a cartoon squid now standing just off Highway 52 East is an official homage to the animated program Squidbillies.
