Mr. Vernon Jasper Holt, 94, of Ellijay, went home to be with his Lord Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, at home with his wife of 77 years by his side. He was a native of Riverdale, and was born to the late V. J. and Ina Rackley Holt March 27, 1927.

He is survived by wife, Billie Gray Patrick Holt; children, Richard Holt and Rebecca Holt Amerson; grandchildren, Gray Holt, Katherine Holt Mawhinney (Zac) and Benjamin Amerson; and several great-grandchildren.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps and went on to graduate from the University of Georgia School of Forestry.

His love for the outdoors and SEC football was unequaled.  He was a longtime deacon and men’s Sunday school teacher. He had a job he loved, in a place he loved, with a family he loved that made him blessed beyond measure.

A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. at Flint Hill Church Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021.
