Mr. Thomas Stevens Gladin, 77, of Talking Rock, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022.

He was born June 30, 1945, in Sandersville, to  Giles S. and Bernice McAfee Gladin. He graduated from Washington County High School and earned a BBA in marketing from the University of Georgia.

He honorably served as a captain in the United States Army.  After leaving the Army, he worked for Tenneco Oil Company and Avon Products.

In 1986, he became a McDonald’s owner/operator in Ellijay.

Over the next 32 years, his organization grew to include locations in Blue Ridge, Jasper and Canton, until his retirement in 2017.

He was a strong Christian principled man, who loved and cherished his family and was especially proud of each of his three grandchildren.

He was kind and took care of all those he loved and quietly helped those in need. Tom enjoyed fishing, watching the Georgia Bulldogs play on Saturdays and driving his Porsche.

He is preceded in death by brother, Glynn Gladin.

He is survived by wife of 54 years, Gay Marshall Gladin, of Talking Rock; daughters, Anna Gladin Pilla and husband, Leo, of Jasper, and Amanda Gladin Ferguson and husband, Michael, of Clermont, Fla.; grandchildren, Justin Pilla, of Viera, Fla., Lucas Pilla, of Bentonville, Ark., and Natalie Ferguson, of Clermont, Fla.; brother, Ron Gladin and wife, Linda, of Sandersville; sister-in-law, Joanne Marshall, of Macon; nephews, Will Marshall, of Lakeland, Fla., Matthew Marshall and Mac Marshall, both of Macon, and Joseph Rhodes, of Hartsville, S.C.; great friend of 35 years, Steve Olsen, of Jasper; and devoted dog, Lulu.

A visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, from 1-4 p.m. at Logan Funeral Home.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, at Logan Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Ferguson officiating.

A private burial will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at michaeljfox.org, in memory of Mr. Gladin.

The family requests no food be brought to the funeral home.
