Tena Newton

Mrs. Tena Newton, 75, of Ellijay, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, at Parkside Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 6, 1947, in Gilmer County, to the late Harold Jones and Irene Worley Jones. She worked in the textile industry and was also of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by sons, Scott Newton, of Andrews, N.C., Keith Mathis, of Ellijay; brother, Vernon Jones, of Jasper; sister, Betsy Stewart, of Ellijay; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Scott officiating.

Interment was in the Yukon Cemetery.

Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
