Mr. Roy Georgia Wright, 86, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, at his residence. He was born March 11, 1935, in Ellijay, to the late Robert E. and Della Azalee Ellis Wright.
He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church for over 50 years and was retired from Shaw Industries.
He is preceded in death by sisters, Reba Wright Mashburn, Frances Wright Tatum, Eula Wright Payne; brothers, Joe Wright, Bill Wright, J.B. Wright and Franklin Eugene Wright.
He is survived by wife of 63 years, Ruby Nell Starks Wright, of Ellijay; sons, Bob and Dana Wright, Herb Wright, all of Ellijay; grandchildren, Kayla Wright O’Dell, Kelly Wright and Bobby
Wright; great-grandchildren, Chaise O’Dell, Breanna O’Dell, Emily Wright, Joshua Wright, Isaac Wright and Elijah Wright; sister, Betty Wright Corbin, of Dalton; brothers Charles and Emi Lee Wright; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brian Clayton and the Rev. Alan Davenport officiating.
Interment was in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bob Wright, Bobby Wright, Randall Thurman, Robert Payne, Henry Mashburn and Herb Wright.
Honorary pallbearers were Phillip Pankey, David Pierce, Charles Starks, Billy Starks, Danny Frady, Jamie Pierce, Allen Starks, Larry Starks, Michael Starks, Keith Logan, Jonathan Wright and William Wright.
