Mr. Nicholas “Nick” Joseph Iacano passed away unexpectedly in his home in Mustang, Okla., Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, at the age of 33.
He was formerly of Ellijay from 1998-2003 while living here with his sister, Cara, who was Apple Queen. He was born Feb. 8, 1988, at Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights, Ohio, to Anthony Iacano and Nancy Butwina.
He graduated from Nordonia High School in 2006 and joined the Navy where he served from Dec. 14, 2006, and was honorably discharged Dec. 13, 2010.
While stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, he met Amber Buchanan and they welcomed their son, Dominic Joseph Iacano on Aug. 8, 2011.
After moving back home to Ohio, Nick eventually relocated back to Oklahoma to be closer to his son. In 2015, he accepted a job at Tinker Air Force Base as a civilian employee where he worked in avionics for the B-52 bombers in 2016. He married his wife, Kelsey, Jan. 18, 2020.
He is survived by son, Dominic Iacano; wife, Kelsey Iacano; parents Nancy (Barry) Butwina and Anthony Iacano; siblings, Cara Iacano, Renee Iacano, Colton Iacano; and nephews, Nicco and Carmine Germano.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Daniel and Barbara Charney. He was the nephew of Karen Vitelli and Mike Vitelli and Daniel and Nora Charney, cousin of Jason Neubert, Brad Neubert, Brett Neubert and Daniel and Suzanne Charney.
His celebration of life was held Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, in Oklahoma, and another memorial will be in Ohio where he will be laid to rest.
