Ms. Mary Sue Davis, 82, of Ellijay, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2021.

She was born Dec. 15, 1939, in Isabelle, Tenn., to the late John Henry Simmons and Winefred Reece. She grew up on a farm and said that her favorite memory was going with her mother to milk their Jersey cow.

She graduated from Gilmer High School, class of 1958, and attended Pickens Tech. She was a proud member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and loved the Lord dearly.

While residing at Gilmer Nursing Home, she was in a Valentine’s Kissing Booth where she had several admirers standing in line waiting for a kiss.

She is preceded in death by brother, Johnny Simmons.

She is survived by son, Curtis (Brenda) Davis, of Ellijay; daughter, Ann Mulkey, of Ellijay; sisters, Helen Sutton and Betty Jo (Philip) Perry, both of Ellijay; grandchildren, Brady (Becca) Timbs, and Ansley Mulkey; and great-grandchildren, Callie, Derrick, Marley and Dawson.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, in the chapel of the Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Nealey officiating.

Interment was in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Brady Timbs, Hassell Chastain, Junior Teague, Jerry Teague, Adam Teague, David Teague and Jerry Farist.
