Mrs Virginia Patricia “Pat” Carr, 75, of Blue Ridge, formerly of Deptford, N.J., died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, with her family by her side.
Lovingly known by her family and friends as Pat, she was born Aug. 8, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late William and Virginia Hedges. She attended Bok Vocational High School. She was a faithful employee for Acme Markets for many years after which she became a nanny and was able to spread love and joy to the children she cared for.
She was loved by many, including her 35 nieces and nephews, 81 great-nieces and nephews, and 28 great-great-nieces and nephews.
She loved to care for others and showed that through many years of nannying and caring for family and friends. She was so genuinely kind and was often heard telling people, “you have a beautiful smile, keep that smile!” She will forever be remembered for her love and caring of others, her unforgettable laugh and her infamous pizelles which she learned how to make from the dearly loved Mom Mom Schofield. She will be dearly missed by so many.
She is preceded in death by husband of 38 years, Bernard J. Carr; and youngest daughter, Laurie Ollek.
She is survived by daughter, Lisa (Ted) Root, of Ellijay; son, Robert (Shannon) Schofield, of Florida; stepdaughters, Rhonda (Lorne) Stinnett and Tracy (Collins) Polywacz; sisters, Jean Bell, Gloria (William) Brown, Arlene (John) Cupp; grandchildren, Kevin, Kathryn, Stephanie, Amanda, Chelsea, Robert, Jessica, Aliyah, Lorne, Savannah, Zachary, Giovanni and Ryan; and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass for Bernard and Virginia Carr will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2021, at Good Samaritan Catholic Church in Ellijay. It will be presided over by Father Carlos Vargas. Friends and family are welcome.
The Rite of Committal and burial will take place Tuesday, March 23, 2021, with full military honors for Bernard, at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. It will be a private ceremony.
