Mrs. Velma Stanley, 76, of Talking Rock, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021.
She was born in Cullowhee, N.C., Dec. 4, 1944, to the late Daniel Boone Shook and Julie Brown Shook.
She was retired from Gilmer County Schools and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching wildlife.
She is preceded in death by husband, James Stanley; daughter, Susie Woody; brother, James Shook; sisters, Erma Lee Shook, Helen Galloway and Hazel Dilbeck.
She is survived by son, Rowdy Stanley (Justina); grandchildren, Jessica Wisdom, Jennifer Woody and Cole Holcomb; great-grandchildren, Elizzy and Zane Wisdom; and sisters, Geneva Rush and Alma Jean Hensley.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, in the Yukon Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Lusk officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lee, Paul Vallejos, Steve Andrews, Darrell Dilbeck, Steven Dilbeck and Cody Dilbeck.
Honorary pallbearer was Danny Hensley.
