Mrs. Shirley Marie Simpson, 75, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021, at her residence.
She was born in Longbranch, N.J., Nov. 30, 1945, to the late George Maxson and Irene Mount Maxson.
She is preceded in death by sister, Barbara Lebra; and brother, George Maxson Jr.
She was a retired caregiver and was a member of Covenant Community Church of Ellijay for the past nine years. She was previously a member of Calvary Chapel of Monmouth, N.J., where she served as a deacon, elder and worship leader.
She is survived by husband, Paul Simpson Sr.; sons, Paul Simpson Jr., Jonathan Simpson (Traci), and Matthew Simpson (Zashia); daughter, Christine Head (David); sisters, Sandy Myers and Mary Orth; grandchildren, Emily and Catherine Hicks, Philemon John Scheffold, Nicalia Matthews, Olivia, Jonathan Jr. and Malachi Simpson, Trinity Head and Ariela Simpson; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Amarylis, Graydon, Wylder and Everly Hicks.
A celebration of life was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021, from Covenant Community Church with Pastor Steve Fields officiating.
Donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Covenant House.
Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
