Mrs. Sherry Lynn Newton

Mrs. Sherry Lynn Newton, 64, of Ellijay, died Sunday, March 13, 2022.

She was born in Decatur, March 29, 1957, to the late John Brock and Willene Burrell Brock St. Clair.

Prior to becoming disabled, she was a realtor for West Realty.

She was a member of East Ellijay Baptist Church, and was a part of Pam Callihan’s Grace and Truth ladies  Sunday school class.

She is preceded in death by husband, Floyd Newton; stepfather, Harry St. Clair; sister, Becky Brock.

She is survived by sons, Shannon Newton (Tina), and Scottie Payne (Jennifer); two daughters, Salina Stowe (Rob), and Scarlett Bearden (Cody); brother, Clifford Brock; sister, Donna Layton (Russell); grandchildren, Austin Sims, Jay Stowe, Kelsey Payne, Eli Stowe, Jewel Newton, Abe Stowe, Leanna Newton, Sadie Bearden, Canaan Bearden and Cooper Bearden; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Gloria Henderson and Jif Gates; and prayer warriors, Sherry Gibson, Lisa Hensley, Vickie Waters, Jan Ballew and Gina Hensley.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at East Ellijay Baptist Church with the Rev. Chad Kelly officiating.

Interment was in Yukon Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Austin Sims, Jay Stowe, Eli Stowe, Abe Stowe, Derek Layton and Richard Layton.

Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Teague, Canaan Bearden and Cooper Bearden.

Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
