Mrs. Rilla Faye Chastain Welch Nelson, 85, of Ellijay, died at her residence Friday, Oct. 15, 2021.
She was born Feb. 29, 1936, in Gilmer County to the late Harley Chastain and Myrtle Dotson Chastain. She was employed at Gold Kist and worked in the poultry business for many years. She was also a member of East New Hope Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by late husbands, Billy Welch and Cliff Nelson; and daughter, Diane Welch.
She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Delores Welch Hunter (Jeff), Debbie Welch Fountain (Sanford) and Donna Welch Burnett, all of Ellijay; five grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, from the Welch Family Cemetery, 58 Rebecca Lane, Ellijay, GA 30536, with the Rev. Jimmy Chester, the Rev. Colton Crook and the Rev. Greg Long officiating.
Music was conducted by Heath Burnett, Dan and Gail Atcheson and Layne Chastain.
Pallbearers were Levi Burnett, Heath Burnett, Jamie Crook, Lee Caviness, Layne Chastain and Elbert Weaver.
Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
