Mrs. Rethia Sanford Dotson

Mrs. Rethia Sanford Dotson, 93, of Ellijay, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2019.

She was born June 22, 1926, in Gilmer County, to the late Benjamin and Viola Crawford Sanford. She was a homemaker and member of Crossroads Baptist Church.  

She is preceded in death by husband, Jessie Dotson; son, Winford Dotson; daughter-in-law, Deborah Dotson; and 11 siblings.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jackie and Deborah Dotson, Sonny and Elizabeth Dotson and Jim Dotson, all of Ellijay; daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and the Rev. Randy McClure, Barbara Westmoreland, Betty Sue and Dortis Newton, Louise and the Rev. Roy Griggs, all of Ellijay, Sissy and Clint Jackson, of Chatsworth; brother, Harold Sanford, of Ellijay; sisters, Juanita Long and Josephine Creger, both of Dalton; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2019, from Crossroads Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Patterson, the Rev. Randy McClure, the Rev. Sammy Adams, the Rev. Jeff Hollifield and the Rev. Jamie Dotson officiating.  

Music was by Ronald and Linda Hyde and the church choir. 

Pallbearers were Smitty Dotson, Ricky Dotson, Jamie Dotson, Jessie Dotson, Kenny McClure and Derrick Sanford. 

Interment was in the church cemetery.
