Mrs. Kathleen Woodring Martin, 87, of Ellijay, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, April 21, 2020. 

She was born April 1, 1933, to Lee Terrell and Pearl Mae Key Woodring in the front bedroom of their home in the New Hope Community in Ellijay.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmama. She was a dedicated member of New Hope Baptist Church and served as their pianist for around 75 years. 

She graduated Ellijay High School in 1950 and lettered in the Beta Club. 

After graduation, she immediately obtained a clerical/bookkeeping position at the Gilmer County Department of Family & Children Services (DFACS). She proudly served her community for 35 years and retired in 1985.

She is preceded in death by brother, Alvin Woodring. 

She is survived by husband of 62 years, Waldon “Waldo” Martin; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Anissa Payne Martin, of Ellijay; son-in-law and daughter, James and Lisa Martin Bradley, of Ellijay; grandchildren, Christopher and Kelsey Love Bradley, Nathan Bradley, Kristen Martin and Garrett Martin, all of Ellijay; future great-grandson, Rhett Curtis Bradley; sisters, Dorothy Woodring Painter, of Dalton, and Mary Nell Woodring Logan, of Ellijay; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2020, from the New Hope Baptist Church with pastor the Rev. Brian Clayton, the Rev. Norman Gibbs, the Rev. Steve Jones, Brother Alan Davenport and the Rev. Lamar Beason officiating.

Pallbearers were Christopher Bradley, Nathan Bradley, Garrett Martin, Roger Woodring, Barry Woodring, Keith Logan, Rev. Norman Gibbs and Randy Copeland.
