Mrs. Helen Ruby Sutton Nelson

Mrs. Helen Ruby Sutton Nelson, 80, of Ellijay, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022.

She was born in Murphy, N.C., June 10, 1941, to the late Luther Sutton and Mattie Dockery Sutton.

She was retired from Goldkist and was a member of Little Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, her family, her friends and life, dearly. She enjoyed spending her time gardening and crocheting.

She is preceded in death by husband, Jim Nelson; and daughter, Deborah Defoor.

She is survived by sons, James Nelson (Alicia), and Robert Nelson (Kelly);  daughter, Barbara Rittenberry (Sanford);  sister, Mary Nell Kephart; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, in the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Griggs and the Rev. Mitchell Pack officiating.

Interment was in Yukon Cemetery.

Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
