Mrs. Gwendolyn (Gwen) Emoline Messer, 81, of Sebastian Fla., died Friday, Feb. 11, 2022.

She was born in Hemp, July 16, 1940, to the late Ted and Dicie Hughes.

She was raised in Ellijay and moved to Florida in 1958, where she met her husband of 33 years, Franklin Messer. They were married April 1, 1959.

Together they raised three children, son, Ricky Messer and daughters, Deborah Heller and Beverly White.

She is preceded in death by husband, Franklin Messer; son, Ricky Messer; granddaughter, Kimberly White; sister, Catherine Cox; brothers, Reed Hughes, Calvin Hughes and Arnold Hughes; mother-in-law, Sarah Waters; and father-in-law, Frank Waters.

She is survived by  daughters, Deborah Heller and husband, Chai Heller, of Sebastian, Fla., and Beverly White, of Fort Pierce, Fla.; grandsons, Robert Nolan, and wife, Valeria Nolan, Edwin Peterson, Irby White and Michael Messer; granddaughters, Savanah White and Courtnie Heller; great-grandchildren Lily and Liam Nolan; sister, Sue Nunn and husband, Jerry Nunn, of Acworth; brother, Ronald Hughes and wife, Bonnie Hughes, of Ellijay; sister-in-law, Yvonne Whalen, of Vero Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb.  20, 2022, at Haisley Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, Fla.

Interment was in Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
