Mrs. Elaine Parks Gates, 90, of Waycross, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup. She was born April 6, 1931, in Jesup, to the late George Aaron Parks and Essie Wimpey Parks.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Waycross.
She is preceded in death by husband of 69 years, Herbert S. Gates; and sisters, Mayford McClurd and Myrtle Bonaventure.
She is survived by sons, Mike Gates and wife, Linda, of Ellijay, Phillip Gates and wife, Mitzi, of Waycross; sister, Lynn Bruner and husband, Dan of Dalton; grandchildren, Lance Gates, of Sandersville, Cynthia Jones, Sandra Lambert, both of Ellijay, Catherine Kiefer of Atlanta and Andrew Gates, of Seattle, Wash.; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Ellijay.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Elaine P. Gates Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 78, Waycross, GA 31502 in memory of Mrs. Gates.
