Mrs. Edna “Colleen” Chastain Kowitz, 82, of Woodstock, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, at her residence.

She was born in Pickens County April 26, 1939, to the late Grady D. Chastain and Pauline Steakley Chastain. She was retired from the National Library and was a member of Ball Creek Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by husband, Billy Kowitz; brothers, Dallas Chastain, Clyde Chastain, Auley Chastain and Jack Chastain, and sisters, Maggie Gaddis, Imogene Hughes and Montez Davis.

She is survived by son, Tim Kowitz, of Spring, Texas; daughters, Pam Scholtz, of Acworth and Judy Kowitz, of Woodstock; brother, Jerry Chastain, of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Billy Kowitz Jr., Blaze Kowitz, Zach Bills, Alex Clemons, Terry Goddard and Ricky Coggins.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, in the chapel of the Bernhardt Funeral Home with chaplin Erin Tomlinson and Minister Jack Kyle officiating.

Interment was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
