Mrs. Bonney Browne LaCour Brown, 76, of Ellijay, died Friday, May 7, 2021, at the Magnolia Senior Living Center in Buford. She was born January 13, 1945, to the late Elmo Clarence Jr. and Carrie Bonney Newell LaCour, in Baton Rouge, La.
She was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School and continued her education by receiving a master’s degree in special education. Her passion was teaching Sunday school at Trinity Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge and St. Teresa’s Episcopal in Acworth. She and her husband had been living in Ellijay the past four years and were members of the Hope Lutheran Church.
She is preceded in death by brother, Elmo C. LaCour III.
She is survived by husband of 46 years, Charlie C. Brown, of Ellijay; daughter, Cynthia Brown of Louisiana; sister, Lindy LaCour Neal Denham, of Magnolia, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2021, from Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Smedley officiating. Following CDC guidelines seating will be limited. Masks must be worn and people must be seated 6 feet apart.
The family will receive friends at Hope Lutheran Church from 9:30 until the service time at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 19.
Flowers are accepted or donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her memory.
