Mrs. Betty Irene Holloway Chancey, 85, of Cherry Log, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2019, at  Parkside Ellijay Skilled Nursing Care.

She was born Oct. 30, 1933, to the late Ernest Lee and Mary Lee Plemmons Holloway in Ellijay. 

She was a graduate of Gilmer High School, class of 1950, and worked in the cafeteria doing lunchroom service for the Gilmer County School System.

She was a member of Boardtown Church of Christ for 68 years and was very active in the Boardtown Community Club and the annual Heart Fund Show. 

She is preceded in death by sister, Peggy Walker; and brother, J.W. Holloway.

She is survived by husband of 67 years, Ralph Chancey; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Jerry Smith, Dianne and Wayne Holt, all of Ellijay,  Melanie and Mitchell Cantrell, of Cherry Log; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Abby Chancey, of Ellijay, Johnny and Teresa Chancey, of Cherry Log; grandchildren and spouses, Jenni (Jeremy) Sellers, Jeremy (Brianne) Smith, Jamey (Georgia) Smith, Josh (Miranda) Chancey, Lori (Jody) Cantrell, Mandy (Adam) Banks, Kevin (Lindsey) Holt, Janna (Leeman) Teague, Joseph (Allison) Holt, Brett Cantrell, Travis Cantrell and Marissa Bowyer; 18 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Lail Callihan, of Ellijay; brothers and sisters-in-law, Benny and Kathy Holloway, of Chatsworth and James and Martha Holloway, of Ellijay.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Butch Jones and Minister Cody Bearden officiating. 

Congregational singing was led by Shannon Bearden. 

Interment was in the Boardtown Church of Christ Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Smith, Jamie Smith, Josh Chancey, Kevin Holt, Joseph Holt, Brett Cantrell, Travis Cantrell and Garrett Sellers.
