Mrs. Bertie Carver Owenby, 99, of Talking Rock died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021.
She was born Dec. 14, 1921, in Pickens County, to the late Alonzo and Pearl Duckett Carver. She was a housewife and a member of the Talona Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by husband of 74 years, the Rev. Carl E. Owenby.
She is survived by daughter, Shirley McArthur, of Talking Rock; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Monona Owenby, of Columbus; grandchildren, Michael McArhur, Crisanna Hayes, Marcus Owenby, Matthew Owenby; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, from the Roper Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with the Rev. Joey Phillips, the Rev. Tim Hyde and the Rev. Stevie Chadwick officiating,
Interment was in the Antioch Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Matt Owenby, Mark Owenby, Glen Hawkins, Jerry Millsaps, James Prather and Mike McArthur.
Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
