Mrs. Mary Angelene Mobley Kenney, 85, of Ellijay, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, and was with her loving son Glenn and his wife Sandra when the Lord called her home.

She was born March 12, 1937, in LaGrange, to the late John Marion Mobley and Mittie Irene (McJunkin) Mobley.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Sharpsburg. While active there, she sang in the choir and taught children’s Sunday school. She was affectionately known as Mimi by her students. She and her husband Robert were active in support of the church’s missionaries even offering their home to the missionary group when they visited.

She graduated from LaGrange High School in 1954 and was married in June of 1957. She was first and foremost, a loving and dedicated servant to the Lord. She was also a loving and dedicated wife, mother, aunt and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by loving husband of 63 years, Robert Lee Kenney; daughter, Janet Susan Kenney Shumate; sisters, Vertyce M. Key, Doris Beehner, Joyce M. Mobley, Jean E. Spradlin; brothers, Bonard Mobley, Thomas Mobley, Bill Mobley and Troy Mobley.

She is survived by son and wife, Glenn and Sandra Kenney, of Ellijay; grandchildren, W. Richard White Jr.,  and wife, Kathy, of Jasper, Marybeth Kenney, of Moorehead City, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Logan and Mason White; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kenney Woodell, of LaGrange, Mildred Kenney Cindrick, of Stockbridge; nephew, Vincent Pirrone, of Atlanta, R. Wayne Mobley, Gautier, Miss.; niece, Dottie Hamm, of Naples, Fla.; great-niece, Tana Youngblood, of Valley, Ala.; and brother-in-law, Douglas Beehner, of Naples Fla.

The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, from 4-8 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, in the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Anderson of Grace Baptist Church in Sharpsburg officiating.

Interment will be Nov. 14, in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
