Loyd ‘Papa’ Mulkey

Mr. Loyd “Papa” Mulkey, 83, of Ellijay, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019.

He was born Oct. 11, 1936, in Pickens County, to the late Grady and Lee Hicks Mulkey. He was retired from Gold-Kist and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by wife, Shirley Coffey Mulkey; children and spouses, Billy Joe and Ann Mulkey, Lorie and Danny Perry, all of Ellijay; sister and brother-in-law, Lana and Johnny Henson, of Ellijay; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4, 2019, from Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Brad Crump and Brother David Robertson officiating. 

Music was by the Partin Family and Hannah Sales.

Pallbearers were Mike Sales, Ernie Allen, Jeff Wimpey, Alan Millholland, Johnny Henson, Charles Stepp and James Richardson. 

Interment was in the Yukon Cemetery.
