It is with great sadness that the family of Linda Stover Van Fleet announces her passing Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at the age of 75 years.

She was born March 6, 1944, in Marietta, to the late Arvil Woodrow and Cora Inez Stover (Hughes). She resided in Maryville, Tenn., with husband, Walter, the love of her life and a retired Navy veteran of 20 years.

For several years, Linda owned Stover Mountain Music in Ellijay, where she taught piano students. After closing the music store, she operated a successful web business and authored a number of inspirational fiction, devotional and Bible study books under the pen names Emeryles Stover and L. S. Van Fleet.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Walter, and children, Michelle Nesbit (Eric) and Stephen Ray, of Blount County, Tenn. Linda will also be fondly remembered by her four grandchildren, Matthew Ray (Sadie), Tiffany Wilson (Scott), Cora Nesbit and Katie Beth Sean (Ricky) and three great-grandchildren, Trenton Luffman, Jeremiah Sean and Raiden Sean.

She is survived by sisters, Dean Petty (Dennis), of Ellijay, Allyne Fitzgibbons (George), of Jasper, Wanda McArthur (William), of Rossville, and Joy Hoff (Tom), of Minot, N.D.; brothers, Virgil Stover, of Lyerly, Edward and Edison Stover, both of Arkansas City, Kan., Sam Stover (Kathy), of Siloam Springs, Ark.; and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by brothers, R.W. and Aaron Stover; and sister, Betty Burrows.

At this time, a memorial service will not be held in order to give the family time to grieve. A celebration of life service will be scheduled for a future date and announced at that time.  Should friends desire to send flowers, the family asks instead that you make a donation in Linda’s name to Covenant Community Church, P.O. Box 455, East Ellijay, GA 30539.

This church is involved in local and foreign missions.

Smith Funeral & Cremation Service in Maryville, Tenn., is in charge of arrangements.
