Linda Ford Waters was born in Evansville, Ind., Sept. 12, 1953, and spent her youth in Christian County, Ky. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the science of home economics from the University of Kentucky, where she was also a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
She was passionate about her lifelong career in school nutrition. In 2014, she was named the Outstanding School Nutrition Director in the State of Georgia. Most recently, she was director of school nutrition for Gilmer County Schools in Ellijay.
Her leisure time passions were Kentucky basketball, preparing home cooked meals for family and friends, her vibrant flower landscaping at her Big Canoe home and caring for her loving canine companion, Bailey.
She passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at her home.
She is survived by husband of 40 years, Randy; daughter, Whitney; and siblings, Donna Kranz, of Cadiz, Ky., and Debbie Rambo, of Waco.
A private memorial service is being planned.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda’s memory can be made to the Pickens County Humane Society, Big Canoe Animal Rescue or the American Heart Association.
