Larry Ronald Gartrell

Mr. Larry Ronald Gartrell, 73, of Rockmart, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.  

He was born April 9, 1946, to Edwin Daly and Mary Marcille Gartrell in Ellijay. He was saved and joined Whitestone Baptist Church in August 1958.  He attended Gilmer County Schools and was STAR Student of Gilmer High School in 1964 and an honor graduate of Gilmer High School, class of 1964.  He received a B.A. from West Georgia College in 1969 and then proudly served in the United States Army in the 197th Artillery Brigade from 1970 until 1972. He then served in the United States Army Reserve from 1972 until 1978.  He retired from the United States Postal Service after 38 years of service. 

He is survived by children, Tommy and Andrea Gartrell, of Jasper, Stephanie Marie and Bill DeArmon, of Rockmart; brother, Tim Gartrell, of Jasper; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Joe B. Jones, of Jasper; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
