Mr. John Mark Painter, 53, of Ellijay, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2021.

He was born June 29, 1968, in Searcy, Ariz., to Wilton Harvey and Barbara Ellen Thompson Painter.

He was an elder at the Ellijay Church of Christ and enjoyed leading singing, traveling and riding roller coasters, especially on his birthday. No roller coaster was ever too intimidating for him, the more thrilling the better.

He worked for the Gilmer County School system for 22 years as a technology technician.

He graduated from Rolla High School, then he received a B.S. in math and computer science from Oklahoma Christian University. While in college, he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Omega social club.

He is preceded in death by father, Wilton Harvey Painter and by his late wife Cindy Reeves Painter.

He is survived by wife, Jennifer Amber Holloway Painter, of Ellijay; daughters, Morgan Lillie and Luke Stolz, of Fountain, Colo., Maggie Mae Painter, of Ellijay; one future grandbaby due in March; mother and her husband, Barbara E. and Alan Cox, of Springfield, Mo.; brother, James Andrew and Eva Painter, of New Franklin, Mo.; sister Lydia Ruth and Jay Hall, of Searcy, Ariz.; aunt, Lucille Morgan, of Belgrade, Mo.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Willa Mae and Mike Holloway, of Ellijay; brothers-in-law, Jason and Melissa Holloway, of Blue Ridge, James and Naomi Holloway, of Rockmart; and several special nieces, nephews, beloved cousins and special fur baby, Tootsie.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, at the Ellijay Church of Christ with Ministers Jeremy Green and Caleb Sampson officiating.

Interment was in the Ellijay Church of Christ Cemetery.
