Mr. John Buford Withrow, 83, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, at his residence.
He was born in Gilmer County Nov. 3, 1938, to the late Grady Withrow and Ruby Starks Withrow.
He was a retired district manager from the Department of Natural Resources with 27 1/2 years of
service.
He was a deacon at Greer’s Chapel Baptist Church for 10 years, and for 56 years at New Hope Baptist Church in Ellijay. He was a Master Mason for over 50 years with Meyerhardt Lodge #314 in Kennesaw.
He is preceded in death by son, Wesley Withrow; son-in-law, David Davenport; brothers, Charlie, James and Kenneth Withrow.
He is survived by wife, Reva Withrow; sons, Bill Withrow (Jennifer), and Ricky Walker (Amberly); daughters, Sabrina Davenport, Halena Gibbs (Mike), Diana Batts (Henry), and Pamela Selph (Brian); brother, J.T Withrow; daughter-in-law, Anita Withrow; 14 grandchildren, Sarah Henderson (Dereck), Joshua Davenport, Holli Gibbs, Jason Teague, Matt Teague, Angie Gibbs, Lexie Withrow, Nate Withrow, Harleigh, Chloey, Aubreigh, Katie and Alyssa Bates, and Oakley Selph; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Davenport officiating.
Kendra Davenport was in charge of music.
Interment was in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ricky Walker, Matt Teague, Jason Teague, Nate Withrow, Keith Logan and Josh Davenport.
